Ch 25 - A crowd of evil spirit lines up to confess to me

The cruise ship had already been incomparably chaotic, which was also why all along the way, no one in the surroundings were curious what Gu Wuji, a passerby was actually doing.

Only, after Gu Wuji’s entire group of people were about to reach the staircase hall leading to their destination, the ghosts from downstairs had lifted their head to look up, each and every one looked over using an expressionless look on their faces that terrified people. As if a little bit of wrong movement from Gu Wuji and the others, will make them come up at any time.

Jiang Ling and the others had a creepy sensation all over their body, Zheng-ge’s back was dripping with cold sweats, “What’s wrong with these ghosts? Why are they constantly staring at us? ”

“The situation is a bit troublesome, it seems too easy to head to the captain’s lounge area.” Gu Wuji observed the current situation, with a bit of hastiness in his tone, started speaking, “You have to keep up.”

The other people had still not yet reacted to the meaning of Gu Wuji, when Gu Wuji while carrying the unconscious Auston on his back, had broke into a run towards the staircase, and still running in a very fast speed, just like Auston, this grown man at his back was something similar to a very lightweight hanging pendant, not causing even a bit of problem.

In this instant, the ghosts downstairs were like being stunned, then rushed to the second floor one after another, some that were too far had even attempted to immediately climb up the walls, without regard whether they were capable of climbing up or not.

Seeing this scene simply made people psychologically discomfited, just a sweeping glance had already petrified the hearts of the other people, keeping pace with Gu Wuji heading to the destination together.

In the corridor’s twist and turns, Gu Wuji did not have the slightest hesitation, for the reason that he had already very clearly remembered the path here yesterday, plus the distance was not at all that long, as they soon quickly arrived to their destination.

The other people that had been hastily running through a course like this, aside from worrying when the ghosts chasing behind them would catch up, were also already frightened to death, only Gu Wuji was not gasping for breath, as if this entire journey had seemingly been very easy for him.

The few people in the surrounding area were already looking at him with great admiration, and at the same time produced a strangely unspeakable envy towards Auston who Gu Wuji had been carrying on his back……this guy’s luck was really very good, even this kind of person who invites death by recklessness still has someone who will care about his life so much like this, it would also be good if they encountered someone like Gu Wuji when an accident happens.

“But we don’t have the key.” Jiang Ling held the door handle, the face was oozing with cold sweats, the tone was filled with concern, “Even though those ghosts at our back doesn’t run very fast, but if we don’t hurry, we will be surrounded sooner or later……

“It doesn’t matter, I’ll open it.” Gu Wuji said in a self-assured manner.

Due to the trust in Gu Wuji, Jiang Ling quickly stepped away from the door, furthermore, without his awareness, he had been watching Gu Wuji’s action with an expectant eyes.

Gu Wuji handed Auston’s body whom he carried at his back to Zheng-ge and the others, after Zheng-ge and and the others struggled against Auston, they immediately realized that the weight of this European-American young man was actually very heavy, and increasingly felt that he was Gu Wuji’s true love.

Following which, Gu Wuji took a deep breath, dashed forward, and swiftly slammed the door.

Jiang Ling and the other people were stupefied, and so on! Gu Wuji actually wanted to break this door open! Even if the door of this boat was wooden, but it also wouldn’t be that easy--

Along with hearing a loud sound was the appearance of the door crashing open, this door had been broken by force just like that.

“Alright.” Gu Wuji wiped the fine sweat on his forehead, and spoke to everyone in a straightforward manner, “Let’s go in quickly.”

The other people blankly nodded their heads, upon hearing the faint sounds of the approaching ghosts rushing over at the back once again gave people the creeps, the door was hurriedly shut tight.

Without a doubt, closing this door had already become unreliable, without any better option, the cabinet at the side was temporarily moved over as a jam, they only hoped that those ghost didn’t have the IQ to know that they were at the other side of the door, as for the unconscious Auston, he was placed on the sofa at the side.

The captain’s diary was on top of the table, generally speaking, it should not be possible for things to develop this smoothly, it should also be impossible for the captain to simply leave this kind of important thing. However, this was ultimately a copy, and will give the players some way to get through, especially after experiencing that sort of crisis just a moment ago, it would be too tragic if there was no profit.

The two people and Zheng-ge immediately sat on the other sofa to rest.

Gu Wuji stepped forward to open this thick notebook, Jiang Ling went beside him and watched with bated breath.

This diary had really been used for such a long time, the date on top had already progressed forward from more than 10 years ago, the entire notebook was very worn out, if it had not been properly cared for, perhaps this would now have already been utterly ruined.

The captain should be a literary young man in those years, as almost all his psychological experiences has been written in this book.

Similar to what everyone had previously suspected, after the unexpected incident of the captain on this ship during that time, an interest towards it was suddenly, even going around to investigate, before finally discovering the affairs of that mysterious sect, deducing the actual facts, then writing it in a book.

It was also this book, that lead to disputes which almost made the captain lose his standing after publication, although money was gained, but the other people were convinced that all the words he said were fabricated, even his close friends had advised him not to write this kind of things, furthermore, there would still be passerby throwing trashes on him everyday.

That sect was very mysterious after all, the people from the outside knew very little of it, even more so when what had happened on the ship was truly very bizarre.

As a result, the more he wanted to prove that all his words were true, it was at this time that he unexpectedly joined this sect without hesitation, and approached those devout believers, attempting to prove the truths to the others someday.

Gu Wuji upon reading this part, suddenly felt a faint burning sensation rising from that veined pattern on his arm, and couldn’t help but slightly frown.

Soon after, he once again browsed the book.

After joining this sect, the captain had actually been gradually convinced in all of this, becoming a fanatical believer not just in name but also in reality, because of his really great capabilities, it didn’t take too long to become a high-ranking member, as well as gaining knowledge to a lot of information that many ordinary members had no way of knowing.

The details on what this sect had actually been doing were not written on the diary, but from the captain’s gradually chaotic and crazed writings had let slip, everyone had faintly become aware of something, to put it briefly, there must certainly be a problem.

The captain had even learned about the actual truth of the original matter, this ship was actually carrying the people of this sect, and their original intention for heading out, was also for the purpose of searching for something.

Everyone aboard had disappeared after that, no one knew what happened to them, and only knew that it became like this after the ceremony, the people in the sect naturally considered this as a miracle, and also believed that those people died with honor and glory.

Even after that, a part of the strange force was still left on the ship, letting people encounter various accidents after taking a ride, which caused all kinds of rumors for this ship.

The captain’s thinking had already been distorted now, he believes that these incidents that occurred were a corresponding honor for the victims, it was even because of all the things that had happened to him in the past, which made him produce an amazing idea.

That was to buy this ship, and recreate the incident of that time. The captain was naturally unsatisfied with this alone, what the captain really wants to do, was to call upon the god that all of them in the sect believed in.

“He’s already gone mad.” Jiang Ling couldn’t help but gnash his teeth and say: “What miracle is this? It’s nothing more but only a pathetic trick in the mind by this evil cult.”

But they also know in their hearts, that the strange sect’s belief in this kind of world must really have a powerful evil god, and not something fabricated to deceive people.

Moreover, that evil god’s level must certainly be incomparable to the usual evil spirits, as it can cause such a terrible situation now on this cruise ship. If the captain was allowed to have his way, can they these people still make it out alive?

Gu Wuji turned to the next page at once, this diary was already very close to the present day time.

Of course, the cruise ship was purchased and rebuilt, the news were also covered up, this matter was not something that can be casually done, but there were a lot of public figure of the upper class amid this sect, the whole thing was simply not a problem at all.

Everything proceeded without a hitch, the captain had even specially invited a group of unsuspecting people to come on the luxury cruise ship for an experience. What these innocent people were completely unaware, was that the moment they set foot on this ship, they had already become sacrifices prepared for the purpose of summoning the evil god.

Without a doubt, the matter of wanting to call upon an evil god was really not that easy, as it required all kinds of harsh conditions.

But unfortunately, according to the things that the captain wrote down, these conditions were already nearing it’s completion. These various kinds of mishaps that the people on board had encountered these past few days, were not only due to the existing power on the ship itself, the captain’s calculations was also included in it, their deaths, were precisely a part of the summoning.

“No wonder the purification skill was of no use before.” Gu Wuji said in a lowered voice, it can now be assumed in accordance with the captain’s diary, that all the people who had died on this ship was estimated to have been involved…… it was no longer a single individual anymore.

Just thinking about it made people’s scalp numb.

“It doesn’t matter.” Jiang Ling said as he mustered his courage: “This copy of ours is also just a low level copy, it’s impossible for this kind of death-dealing situation to happen, I believe that there must certainly be a limitation to this summoning, making it very hard to succeed, or the evil god that will be called out must be incomplete.”

Even though he said it like this, but he at this moment couldn’t help but produce a sense of hopelessness.

On board this cruise ship, was there really still a way for them to leave?

Gu Wuji had once again turned to the next page, with an impressive drawing of a strange magical array on top, there were even all kinds of precautions and prerequisites for the magical array written at the side.

“This is-, the magical array to summon the evil god, but this is not complete, it can only allow that existence to posses someone’s body.” Gu Wuji said in a neutral tone, and quickly began to skim over the precautions near it.

Just at this moment, the communication device hanging in the room suddenly lighted up, the captain’s face appeared on the screen above.

“As expected, you were the people who caused the commotion, it seems that you had discovered something amiss earlier on.” The captain’s location was unknown, as the surroundings were pitch black, looking towards everyone, with a fanatical look in the eyes that made the ordinary people feel uncomfortable.

“That’s right, it also seems like, you the captain were aware of the matter that more than half of the people on this ship has already become ghosts?” Gu Wuji started speaking.

“Of course.” The captain seemed to be in a very good mood, nodding his head to say: “Seeing your appearances, it seems like you already got a hold of my diary……although I’m really not in favor to this kind of action, but since I’m in such a good mood at the moment, your actions will not be pursued.”

“You’re crazy.” Jiang Ling almost couldn’t help but curse out loud without restraint: “To actually go as far as to sacrifice the people on board, just for the purpose of calling upon some evil god? Even if it was called out, it would do nothing more than just cause all of us to die!”

“It’s very normal for an ordinary person like you to not understand.” The captain did not also have the intention of explaining too much, and just said with a smile: “It would be better to say, this should be considered as your fortune, even though you were just some ordinary person, but had actually been fortunate enough to board this ship, I really don’t know how much years of luck were spent to get here.”

Zheng-ge and the others almost let loose an unrestrained rain of curses, contrary to expectations, they absolutely had rotten luck just to be chosen by this system, coming in this copy of the cruise ship’s spectre, this things that had happened along the way had already made them almost at the brink of collapse.

“What I wanted to say was, you will be summoning tonight right?” Gu Wuji then looked to the captain, speaking in a very calm manner, “What’s more, you the captain is currently hiding in a certain place on this ship that we can’t locate, to be very confident that no one can find you and stop you from doing your deed, am I right?”

“You’re actually very smart.” The captain replied: “But, wrong about one thing, I am certainly not afraid of you finding me. After all, you’re not going to survive until that time either.”

As the sound of his voice fell, the sounds of footsteps could be heard from outside the door of this room, there were even sounds of dead bodies being dragged on the ground, it was quite clear, that those ghosts had finally arrived outside the door.

Zheng-ge and the other people’s complexion greatly changed, promptly moving the bookcase to block the doorway as well, their body also pressing against it, but this could obviously do nothing more than just last for a while, there were really too much ghosts outside after all.

In the event, that a lot of ghosts were to go in, even the powerful Gu Wuji would also be unable to do anything about it, and can only be resigned to fate.

“I still have a question.” Gu Wuji looked at the captain, seemingly pondering about something, then asked: “Did this ship hold any dance party prior to last night?”

“Of course not.” The captain seemed to consider that this matter was not something of a big deal, answering casually, then soon after revealed a sneer, “Did you intend to stall for time in asking this? Forget it, the ghosts outside won’t care about any of your problems.”

“Still, I want to ask.” Gu Wuji once again looked towards the captain, the voice’s tone had suddenly lowered, “Captain, are you still alive?”

The breath of the other people stagnated upon hearing this, looking at Gu Wuji with a somewhat flabbergasted expression, no matter how they look, the captain seemed just like a living person after all, what did Gu Wuji find wrong?

“Of course.” The captain coldly looked over, “I must personally witness that great scene, how can I die now?”

As the voice’s tone faded, he immediately terminated the communication, the room also regained it’s silence.

“What’s the matter? Have you found any strange places?” Jiang Ling looked at Gu Wuji.

“I naturally noticed something, there were also a lot of strange places.” Gu Wuji started speaking, “Giving me a bit of idea……

“Now is not the time to think about that kind of thing! If we don’t think of a way to escape, a large amount of monstrous ghosts will come in!” The entire face of Zheng-ge was already covered with cold sweats as he pressed against the door.

“No problem, I already know what to do.” Gu Wuji picked up the notebook on the table, looking over to the summoning array, confidently said: “As long as it’s done before the captain, wouldn’t it be alright for us to call upon this evil god first?”

At the moment his voice fell, everyone were at a loss for words, and simply looked at Gu Wuji with eyes that were like seeing a ghost.

“This, you, did you really say this?” Jiang Ling could not believe what he had heard.

The oft referred-to evil god is the most terrible existence in the copy, outclassing all kinds of malicious spirits, which you cannot escape from, and he actually wanted to call upon one!

“It’s alright, I have finished reading the notes, all the things needed to draft the magical array are all present in this room.” Gu Wuji said in a calm and collected way, smiled slightly, and soothingly said: “Even the prerequisites to draft the array, has also been completed by the captain for us, we simply don’t need to do it ourselves.”

Is this really the issue?!

But they at this moment also didn’t have any way to stop Gu Wuji, it would be better to say, they would only had the road to death once the ghosts form the outside break down the door and enter, they might as well believe in Gu Wuji’s worrying operation.

By chance, it might be the sliver of chance to survive?

Gu Wuji placed the notebook aside, then went to the bookshelf that had been moved, and reached out to lift the rug open, an imposing magical array that had almost been completed appeared above, with just the last step missing.

“As expected, as written in the notebook, the captain in case of any unexpected events, really hid a magical array with only the last steps missing in each of the cabins, and is really also at the bottom of the rugs.”

Gu Wuji then said: “After that, there is still the requirement of having spiritual powers, or a person who had contact with ghosts.”

This point can be very difficult elsewhere……but as far as these players were concerned, this was simply a great deal.

Of course, on top of that, the person must also be associated with this evil god. Gu Wuji thought about the veined pattern on his arm, and thought that this shouldn’t be of any problem.

Jiang Ling also had no other choice at this time, nothing else can be done aside from hurriedly helping him, so he immediately picked up the notebook to see what else needed to be done, of which he could do……but upon seeing one of the conditions, he instantly became stunned.

“Okay, almost done.” Gu Wuji opened his mouth to say, picking up a pen-knife from the table to cut his fingertip.

Fresh blood oozed from the jade-like white fingertip, falling to the ground like pomegranate seeds, that strange array symbol with an evil influence, just like coming to life, started to squirm.

In an instant, even the air became incomparably oppressive, even if no whatsoever ghosts had appeared, but it made the people at the scene instinctively sense a sinister feeling, even their heartbeats had become exceptionally slow.

As if the life pulse had been tightly gripped by an invisible creature.

Jiang Ling complexion was deathly white, with a faint regret in his heart, he should have stopped Gu Wuji, but it was already too late!

Devouring the fresh blood with spiritual nature, the magical array had been automatically completed.

A stream of piercing blue light suddenly broke through the void, shinning into the cabin! So much that in this split second, all the movements of the ghosts outside have stopped, and the room both fron inside and outside became extremely quiet for a moment.

They seemed to be safe, and as expected, had really escaped the ghost’s abuse to death.

Only, this did not allow Zheng-ge and the others to have the slightest peace of mind, because in a flash, as they, one after the other felt a sense of suffocation of being surrounded by the dense sea water, and couldn’t help but painfully cover their noses and mouths.

Gu Wuji, the initiator of the magic array was undoubtedly also experiencing the same kind of illusion, he seemed to faintly stare at a certain thing in the sea water’s abyss, the vague sounds of strange whispers passed through his ears, but even with careful attention, what was being said also couldn’t be understood in the end.

And within that abyss, he finally saw--

……

The eyes were suddenly opened, Gu Wuji discovered Jiang Ling supporting him, he pressed his painfully aching temples, and was already unable to remember what he had just seen in the end.

“Was the summoning successful?” He inquired.

“It should be-……successful.” Jiang Ling’s tone was a bit weak.

Zheng-ge and the others were already stuck close to the wall, and were dead tired, if it wasn’t because nothing had happened yet, they would have already left at once.

Gu Wuji turned his head, then saw a person standing there by himself, who was naturally Auston who had always been unconscious before, the other was now expressionlessly staring at this side. At this moment, one of his pupil had already turned bloody red, with complicated patterns appearing among it, only the other eye retained it’s normal blue color.

“The person who summoned me. What are you asking for?” The voice of ‘Auston’ penetrated the space, the sound in Gu Wuji’s ears, was like a whisper.

Only this time, it was no longer that usual familiar voice, but instead, makes the people’s mind hearing this become confuse, the voice causes the consciousness to become unclear.

Everyone, one after the other lowered their heads to avoid the confrontation of Gu Wuji and Auston, and couldn’t believe deep down that Gu Wuji was actually able to perform a successful summon so casually like this. Fortunately, it was simply a possession, the power of this evil god should have weakened a lot, moreover, it seemed to appear to be unable to arbitrarily kill them.

It would be better to say that the way ‘Auston’ was looking at them also had no difference with looking at the grain of dust, who would care about the will and life of dusts?

“What I want to ask is, in what way, can these people on board be set free?” Gu Wuji stooped in salutation.

…………

……

Everyone opened the door.

At this moment, each and every ghosts outside the door trembled in fear, just like a frightened rabbit, not daring to move the slightest bit.

After all, the most terrible boss was there with them, what else could these insignificant ghosts still do?

“The captain must now be found as soon as possible.” Gu Wuji carrying the unconscious Auston at his back walked over, and musingly said: “But where could that captain be in the end?”

Today is the very last day after all, if the captain could not be found, not only would the problem not be solved, this evil god would also not be properly dealt with.

The other people’s complexion were pale, no one dared to approach Gu Wuji and Auston, but was also fearful of being too far and letting these ghosts wrap them up, and could only force themselves to follow after, no matter how much their knees trembled in fear while walking.

The evil god possessing Auston’s body had still not yet left!

Heaven knows how courageous Gu Wuji was to continue carrying that evil god on his back. The previous dialogue between Gu Wuji and the evil god also made them feel shocked until now, but that is an evil god, how can Gu Wuji naturally speak out a request like that!

Gu Wuji brisk walked, demanding information from the few ghosts nearby, those ghosts had already been so scared that their body’s color became lighter, but in the face of Gu Wuji’s question, they were all bewildered, and were obviously and totally unclear about this matter.

Just at this time, a white figure appeared from afar.

That was exactly the young girl in white dress whom Gu Wuji had rescued on the first day, the Western-styled suit of Gu Wuji was still draped on her body, she looked no different from a normal living person at this moment, and was simply like an existence of a clear stream in this cruise ship. The young girl in white dress took a glimpse at this side, after making sure that Gu Wuji had seen hers, she quickly flitted to a certain direction.

“Keep up with her.” Gu Wuji said as he broke into a run, not only was he following his intuition, he was also feeling a sense of kindness from this young girl.

The other people seeing this also quickly followed. They, already did not have that strength to continue thinking where this female ghost came out from now, at any rate, the strongest boss was already at the back of Gu Wuji, nothing could also be more terrible compared to the present.

After running all around in twist and turns in a brief moment, several people came to a very hidden location, the young girl in white dress suddenly stopped her steps, then turned her head, and fixedly looked at Gu Wuji, grasping the Western-style suit draped on her body, said in a pleading tone.

“Please I beg you, only you, can set us free.”

Cold sweat dripped down from Jiang Ling’s face, that he almost wanted to ruthlessly glare over, what does this female ghost know? If the previous conversation was really true, wanting to do what she had said, no one knows how much difficult that would be.

Even if Gu Wuji’s a good person, he also must not sacrifice his life for them like this!

“I will definitely do it.” But Gu Wuji did not seem to be a bit worried about this matter at all, looking to the other party and said: “I already had this idea.”

A grateful look appeared on the face of the young girl, nodding her head towards Gu Wuji, then ran away to the other side, and even had a look of relief, as the pressure when talking to Gu Wuji was really too big after all.

“Alright, the captain should be hiding in here, the things would certainly be resolved now, you don’t need to be anxious.” Gu Wuji looked towards the door at the side, not forgetting to soothingly touch the back of Jiang Ling, while smilingly said.

The warm palm of the youth, allowed Jiang Ling to slightly staved off the fear in his heart, the heart had still clearly felt that Gu Wuji was not being reasonable, but seeing him give a smile that can almost penetrate the people’s heart, couldn’t help but also raise some confidence.

Like the travelers walking in the dark who was holding on to the final salvation and beauty.

It seemed that even the evil god at the back of Gu Wuji was not that terrible, “I hope so.” He couldn’t help but move a bit closer to Gu Wuji, but just as he had taken a single step, the suffocating feeling of being in the sea that had been experienced not so long ago had violently surged up again!

He was still even able to vaguely see that Auston who was at the back of the other party slightly open his eyes, that blood red veined pattern had taken on an ominous warning, staring at him without a bit of feelings.

Jiang Ling’s complexion went pale beyond compare, covering his nose and mouth, he hastily drew back, after taking 5 steps away from Gu Wuji, only then did this feeling completely disappear.

Even when Gu Wuji turned his head to ask about it, his survival instinct made him squeeze out a smile, with luck and quick-thinking said: “I’m fine, it’s important to handle the captain first.”

This place was a very hidden staff lounge, without any whatsoever distinctive features from the rest of the rooms, the path outside was more complicated, that if the young girl hadn’t led the way, it would be impossible for them to locate this place this quickly.

Gu Wuji looked at the door before him for a while, maybe the captain had been so confident that they wouldn’t be able to come, that the door could be opened directly, which still saved time from solving it violently.

As everyone went in, they impressively saw that in the middle of the pitch-black room, was the captain looking at the magical array in front of him with a fanatical look on his face, there was also not a bit of fear upon seeing them enter, and even sneeringly spoke: “It’s really beyond my expectations, for you to actually appear, but your arrival is already too late, the summoning array is a success.”

“It won’t succeed.” Gu Wuji said several words, then after thinking about something, thoughtfully supplemented his words: “Captain, what I meant was your summoning.”

“What did you say?” The captain heard Gu Wuji’s words, but had no other reaction, after all, he was very certain that his magical array was complete, thus he only sneered coldly and said: “Don’t be delusional, the matter of that god being called upon is already a foregone conclusion, you’re just waiting for your deaths--”

Jiang Ling and Zheng-ge with the other people, were looking at the captain as if he was a fool.
